The Department of Ophthalmology is considered one of the most important departments in the clinical phase. The educational process in the department began in the academic year 2003-2004 with the cooperation of faculty members in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Human Medicine at the University of Tripoli, as well as visiting professors from the sister country of Egypt. Ophthalmology is taught in the third stage. the fourth year.

Providing distinguished education for fourth-year students in the field of ophthalmology so that they can contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of various eye diseases. 

• Introducing students to all common diseases in the field of ophthalmology, and dealing with them correctly

 • Training students on how to measure the power of vision, as well as the reflection of light on the cornea and how to examine the eyelids

 • Training students on how to select diseases of the cornea, conjunctiva, tear sac, and retinal diseases.

 • Training in selecting eye movements and ocular muscles and introducing the various causes of strabismus.

 • Ability training for the link between eye diseases, nervous system diseases and internal diseases.

 • The ability to implement simple treatment methods and deal with emergency cases.
